Position Summary:
The duties of the Federal Student Worker are to obtain work experience on campus in local P- 6 grade and via online virtual platforms. Duties may include assisting staff and faculty with preparation for Prek-6th grade reading activities tutoring local PreK-6th grade students in the area of reading instruction and other support duties as required. The Federal Student Worker will assist with creating and developing lesson material games and manipulatives for tutoring addition the Federal Student Worker will work with individuals and small groups of Prek-6th graders to assist in increasing student achievement in reading.
Tutors will attend mandatory training sessions and required workshops be flexible and available to work outside of their class schedules must be dependable and punctual for scheduled appointments complete tutorial reports in a timely manner and work well with Pre-k-6th grade students in the area of reading instruction. Additionally tutors must be willing to work with a diverse student population.
Positions may be filled based on individual applicants skills qualification and departmental needs.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work professionally alongside a diverse student population.
- Assisting Staff and Faculty with preparation for Prek-6th grade reading activities.
- Tutoring local Prek-6th grade students in the area of reading instruction.
- Assist with creating and developing lesson plans games and different manipulatives for tutoring sessions.
- Work with individual or small groups of children to increase their achievement in reading.
- Other support duties as required by the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Applicants must be enrolled as a JSU student taking at least six (3) hours per fall or spring semester. (Requirements for international students below. *)
- If not a first-time student the applicant must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
- Selected applicants must provide evidence of student enrollment and GPA (unofficial transcript or printout of enrollment/GPA from MyJSU.
- Must be eligible for Federal Work Study.
- May not be a Dual Enrollment Student.
