Description of Work

This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporaries are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.


Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. OSHR supports the Governors Job Ready initiative and seeks to expand a temporarys skill set to enhance their qualifications for State government and private sector jobs. Exposure to an agencys culture process procedures and potential learning opportunities can provide valuable experience to those who may seek permanent employment with the state.

This temporary position is located in Raleigh - Wake County.


Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $28.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).


This temporary position will be assigned to the Office of Administrative Hearings. This position is located at 1711 New Hope Church Rd Raleigh NC 27609.

The Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) is a quasi-judicial agency created during the 1985 session of the NC General Assembly to provide a tribunal for a prompt and impartial resolution of disputes between citizens and certain state agencies. The Civil Rights Division is the States EEOC deferral agency for state employment discrimination complaints. A Civil Rights Investigator investigates charges of discrimination filed by applicants for state employment covered state employees and former state employees. Primary responsibilities include: pre-investigative activities investigative planning interviewing witnesses drafting requests for information technical report writing dispute resolution post-investigative activities and other ongoing duties. The Civil Rights Investigator conducts investigations subject to the application of law. Therefore the investigator must possess the ability to understand research and apply state and federal administrative rules statutes and legal precedents.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree and two (2) years of experience in human resource administration employee relations labor relations civil rights enforcement or related field which provides an understanding of employment programs laws and issues or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
