Job Description
The Fabric Remote Procedure Call (RPC) team provides secure reliable and scalable internal service-to-service communication for all Datadog this role youll develop and maintain multi-language libraries that provide engineers with the features needed to build distributed systems without being network experts (e.g. encryption authentication and authorization service discovery efficient load balancing overload protection etc.).Were looking for an expert Rust engineer who is passionate about networking and distributed systems to help take our networking stack to the next level and ship libraries that will be used in some of our most critical and largest scale services.

What Youll Do:
- Work with our engineering community and open-source maintainers to build features and optimizations that reduce overhead of doing high-throughput network communications at scale.
- Contribute to building a vibrant Rust community in Datadog.
- When needed dive deep into Linux Kubernetes Cilium gRPC and related technologies.
Who You Are:
- You have good experience coding in Rust.
- You have significant experience building and maintaining native libraries (C/C/Rust) and interoperability with other languages.
- Youre attentive to details and can build software with very low defect rates. You appreciate simplicity as a tool to accomplish this.
- Hands on experience in software design and leading refactoring initiatives to improve the architecture of complex software libraries.
- Youre interested in an environment that values shipping early and iterating and keeping processes to the minimum needed to ensure safety. You enjoy owning projects and can keep moving forward despite the occasional ambiguity or blocker.
