Reporting to the Senior Manager Corporate Accounting the Senior Accountant will assist with the accounting reporting and analysis of the Corporate and NPK Operating Segment results. This position requires a high degree of cross-department and cross-operating segment interaction. The Corporate Accounting department operates with a significant number of deadlines and reporting obligations and as such the successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities.
What you will do:
- Preparation of the quarterly accounting and reporting for defined contribution pension defined benefit pension and other post-retirement benefits plans
- Providing accounting support for curtailments and amendments of defined benefit pension plans
- Preparation of monthly journal entries and working papers including designated and non-designated hedging activities and hedge effectiveness testing
- Responsible for the review and analysis of embedded derivatives
- Responsible for the preparation of Corporate and NPK business unit management reporting including P&L and Balance Sheet Variance analysis
- Completion of monthly quarterly and annual account reconciliations
- Preparation and review of other month-end close activities as assigned
- Prepare and review external reporting schedules and requests
- Prepare and review information requests from external and internal auditors
- Support and assist with continuous improvement initiatives and projects as required
What you will bring:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance or business related field
- CPA designation required
- 5years accounting experience with a strong working knowledge of IFRS and application of the concepts
- Results oriented with ability to work in a deadline driven environment
- Experience with data and variance analysis including researching causes and providing clear explanations
- Strong attention to details combined with the ability to see the big picture
- Excellent analytical skills problem solving and decision-making capability
- Demonstrated time management skills and ability to prioritize when involved with multiple initiatives and changing priorities
- Experience using SAP Oracle consolidation system BPC/EPM and Power Query would be considered an asset
