Job Description
At DMU you will make a meaningful contribution to the dynamic future of Medicine and Health Sciences. DMU is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to perform a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties within the OMM clinic.
What youll do:
- Welcome patients to the clinic.
- Gather clinical information from the patient and other sources. Document clinical information in the patients electronic health record (EHR); including taking and recording patient vital signs medications allergies histories and other clinically relevant information.
- Answer phones take messages and follow-up on messages from patients physicians and other staff members in a timely manner as well as schedule appointments for referrals
- Call in and administer medication prescriptions as directed by the physicians.
- Prepare patients and the exam room for procedures; draw up any needed medications for procedures. Assists physicians as needed. Documents accordingly.
- Order supplies stock rooms manage laundry maintain clinic exam rooms equipment and instruments.
What we are looking for:
- Graduate from a recognized medical assistant or nursing program plus current license/certification (or have license/certification pending).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good typing and 10-key skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse population and provide excellent customer service to all.
