Technical Specialist IIIin GAC Savannah

DUTIES: Investigate problems analyze test results and generate solutions for basic problems associated with the research design development and manufacturing of products by performing stability and control and flight dynamics analysis. Conduct time history-based simulation analysis to determine a failure modes hazard classification. Host reduce data and report conclusions from pilot in loop simulations. Associate engineering analysis as requirement verification artifacts for ARP4754 compliance. Perform analysis of systems architecture and implement and improve simulation tools in MATLAB and Simulink. Deliver technical training presentations and develop simulator software. Interact closely with test pilots and flight instructors. Collaborate with diverse teams. Serve as an EASA CVE (designated engineer). Prepare flight manuals and work with MATLAB model-based design. Develop embedded code certified as per DO-178 levels A and B including control laws. Test malfunctions in simulators based on in-service events. Work on engineering projects containing critical problems the solution of which requires major technological advances and extensive related development. Be responsible for an entire engineering project of major complexity within established scope. Make technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities. Apply advanced technical principles theories and concepts based on broad expertise or unique specialized knowledge. Lead the development of innovative principles and ideas. Act independently to determine improved methods and/or procedures to optimize technical product cost and schedule requirements. Works under consultative direction. Use independent judgment to accomplish objectives. Develop standards and guides for diverse engineering activities. Conceive and plan investigation of broad areas of importance for which engineering precedents are lacking in areas critical to the program. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Controls Engineering or a related engineering field required. Thirteen years of experience in aerospace industry research and development required including any experience with: fly-by-wire control laws flight controls flight dynamics flight mechanics and simulator and systems engineering; MATLAB and Simulink including control systems; DO-178 and the integration of systems with ARP 4754/4761; programming languages including C/C and Python; airplane modeling for flight dynamics predictions; flying qualities and performance flight tests (test plans data analysis and results report) for airplane development and certification; flying qualities criteria/requirements for airplane and systems development including flight control laws development; and with European aircraft regulations and operations including EASA Part 147 Maintenance Training. Five years of experience required with: developing requirements to ensure airplane is maneuverable has good handling qualities and is controllable both in normal operations and in the presence of failures; using static and time history based analysis to ensure design requirements are being met; conducting analyzing and documenting the results of pilot in the loop laboratory simulation evaluations; planning supporting and reducing data from aircraft flight testing; conducting Functional Hazard Assessment certification testing; flight simulation development and verification; and with aerospace requirements verification and requirements-based development (ARP4754 and DO-178). In lieu of a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Controls Engineering or a related engineering field and thirteen years of experience Employer will accept a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering Controls Engineering or a related engineering field and eleven years of the above-requested experience or a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering Controls Engineering or a related engineering field and nine years of the above-requested experience.
