Job Description
Leading the Agreement Review team in drafting and negotiating various agreements including loan agreements vendor contracts SLAs NDAs and MOUs.
Reviewing and approving legal documentation in line with laws policies and risk frameworks.
Collaborating with business teams to provide sound practical legal advice on contract-related issues.
Managing turnaround timelines and ensuring stakeholder expectations are met.
Maintaining a legal clause library and standardised templates for process efficiency.
Engaging with external counsel for complex or cross-border transactions.
Supporting audits inspections and internal reviews relating to contractual obligations.
Mentoring and developing junior legal officers while promoting a culture of legal excellence.
Monitoring legislative changes that impact commercial agreements and compliance.
Requirements
What You Bring
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Barrister at Law (B.L) qualification; a Master s degree or certification (e.g. ICSA) is a plus.
At least 7 years of post-call experience with 3 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Proven expertise in commercial law banking agreements and Nigerian regulatory requirements.
Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with legal documentation software is an added advantage.
Excellent interpersonal communication and team leadership capabilities.
Your work directly influences how the bank safeguards its legal interests complies with regulation and engages external partners through strategic agreements. Your leadership ensures the bank maintains a solid legal foundation while pursuing growth.
