About the Role
The Assay Scientist plays a key role in advancing research and development initiatives focused on genomic technologies and molecular diagnostics. This position combines hands-on laboratory experimentation with data analysis to support the development of innovative genomics-based assays and products. The ideal candidate will have experience in NGS bioinformatics and cancer genomics with a strong drive to contribute to translational research and product development in clinical and research applications.
Responsibilities
Lead research projects to validate genomic technologies for detecting genomic rearrangements in clinical and translational applications
Design and implement development plans for future genomics-based products services and applications
Perform molecular biology and genomics experiments including sample preparation sequencing and assay optimization
Analyze high-throughput genomic data using standard and custom bioinformatics tools
Interpret experimental results and propose actionable next steps to cross-functional stakeholders
Collaborate with internal teams including R&D bioinformatics and product development to support project goals
Engage in technical discussions with external collaborators and scientific partners
Monitor scientific and technological trends in cancer diagnostics genomics and molecular biology
Deliver internal technical presentations and contribute to departmental knowledge-sharing sessions
Represent the team by presenting research findings at external scientific meetings and conferences
Identify potential challenges in research projects early and implement solutions or escalate appropriately
Participate in regular lab and R&D team meetings promoting a collaborative and innovation-driven environment
Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned
Qualifications
PhD or MS in Molecular Biology Genomics Bioinformatics Biochemistry or related field
Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows and data analysis
Proficiency in using bioinformatics tools and scripting languages (e.g. Python R Bash)
Strong understanding of genomic rearrangements chromatin biology and cancer genomics
Proven ability to interpret and present complex genomic data to diverse audiences
Experience working in cross-functional research or development teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Desired Qualifications
Experience with Hi-C or chromosome conformation capture technologies
Familiarity with clinical assay development or regulatory standards for molecular diagnostics
Background in technology transfer or product commercialization
Publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals
Experience presenting at national or international scientific conferences
Knowledge of single-cell genomics or spatial transcriptomics
Previous involvement in industry academic collaborations
