Job Description

Job Summary:

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising all facets of a manufacturing shift including the inbound and outbound logistics material handling sorting washing extrusion and packaging phases of the manufacturing process. The Operations Supervisor leads a team of operators material handlers and production workers who are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing facility. The Operations Supervisor works with the Operations Manager to build a highly performing team and drive operational excellence in the areas of Safety Quality Cost and Delivery through the development and training of our people. The Operations Supervisor ensures adherence to all safety rules and programs and compliance with all environmental regulatory legal and ethical standards. Above all else the Operations Supervisor is one of the front-line leaders who builds our team and drives our culture.

Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate shift operations including production distribution and logistics
- Engages employees in active participation to instill a culture of safety and continuous improvement while leading by example.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize efficiency and streamline processes
- Drives quality performance and improvement to exceed our customers expectations.
- Partners with the maintenance department to ensure all equipment raw materials vendors and contractors to ensure adherence to the production schedule and facilitate on-time delivery
- Monitor performance metrics and KPIs to track progress and identify areas for improvement
- Train and guide staff to ensure they are performing at a high level
- Collaborate with other departments to address issues and drive cross-functional initiatives
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations
- Manage budgets and expenses to maximize profitability
- Evaluate and recommend equipment and technology upgrades to enhance the operation

Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

Bachelors degree in business or engineering preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of lead/supervisory experience in a manufacturing recycling or military environment.

Computer skills required: Microsoft Office; Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems preferred; Quality Control software preferred.

Ability to operate manufacturing and material handling equipment such as forklifts aerial and scissor lifts.

Ability to lead a team of up to 25 people. Leads by example and is willing to work alongside their team.

Process-oriented and results-oriented in setting and pursuing aggressive goals demonstrating a strong commitment to organizational success and marshaling resources to accomplish goals and objectives.

Demonstrated problem-solving analytical critical thinking and decision-making skills.

Builds and works alongside the team placing the safety of their people at the forefront.

Places our customers and the quality of their product second only to the safety of our team members.

Demonstrates and promotes ethical behavior.

They have strong leadership skills and proven judgment of talent with an emphasis on hiring and developing highly performing teams.

Strong knowledge of manufacturing.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Good customer service skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional courteous and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.

Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed efficiently and safely.

Good follow-through and ability to adhere to work schedule and follow through on challenges as they arise.

The ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth promotes the Companys safety standards; does not take inappropriate risks.

Demonstrate good attendance with the ability to work extended hours weekends and holidays as required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

The work environment is on the plant floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and we do expect employees and visitors to wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) including hearing protection while on the plant floor. The Shift Team Lead will be expected to work alongside their team especially when there are coaching opportunities available or when the plant is experiencing significant operational interruptions.

We have a 24/7 process operation. The work schedule for this position is dictated by the need to manage and react to issues on the shifts. The planned schedule for this position is:

Night Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM Monday through Friday rotating days off working every other weekend.

This position will require the following physical demands.

There will be moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds) standing and walking for several hours at a time.

Frequently required to: stand climb stairs balance bend stoop kneel or crawl; work near moving mechanical parts; work around fumes/airborne particles; work in high precarious places; exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather); exposure to outside weather conditions.

Continually required to: talk or hear; utilize hand and finger dexterity; utilize close and distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
