Job Description:
Accountabilities:
Operations
- Assist with unloading of food donations from vans and/or trucks.
- Ensure all food is sorted and documented properly for reporting to partner organizations.
- Sort food donations for the Food Bank program and assist with preparing donated items for distribution.
- Oversee daily activities in Food Bank and keep food moving through the organization in an orderly manner to ensure it doesnt spoil before distribution.
- Meet with clients monthly to help work through their goals and foster those relationships to help clients achieve their goals. Connecting clients to other Church programming at any of the three Mississauga sites.
- Oversee and lead the programs out of the Meadowvale location to help in the community such as Love New Canadians and Moms and Kids as well as making connections to other programs staff and pastoral care.
- Oversee and organize the schedule of volunteers and the onboarding process.
- Assist with the sorting and packing of parcels for various programs (e.g. Christmas food and toy hampers; back to school; etc.).
- Prepare and place roadside garbage and recycling on pre-determined days.
- Ensure that all clients and members of the public are treated with dignity and respect.
- Assist with seasonal programs as required.
Health and Safety
- Assist in ensuring client and volunteer safety by maintaining cleanliness and adherence to all health and safety standards.
- Assist with ensuring that the Food Bank is maintained in regard to organization appearance maintenance and general cleanliness and safety as recommended by Public Health etc.
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Armys health and safety policies and procedures.
- Check temperatures two times per day on all refrigerators and freezers and record on the log sheet and ensure that Supervisor is aware of irregularities or problems.
Perform other related duties as required.

Internal:

MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY:
- This position reports directly to the Director of CFS
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
- Assist with food bank materials management such as donations/product flow and distribution of same.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This is a regular part-time position based on 20 hours per week.
- The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.
- The working conditions are such that to meet the operational needs of the job some flexibility is required as it relates to hours of work.
- Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions.
- Be able to lift/move up to 40 pounds.
- This job requires reaching bending and stooping frequently working in a standing position for periods of time.
- Some travel is associated with this position.
Normal hours of work: as per operational requirements would be Tuesday 8am -4pm Thursday between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8am-12pm

education and experience Qualifications:
Education Qualifications and Certifications:
- Completion of Secondary School.
- Ability and willingness to provide a valid Safe Food Handlers Certification.
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) months of prior related experience including experience working with multi-barriered persons.
- Valid Ontario Class G Drivers License own vehicle and insurance provide an original copy of current drivers abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army in its sole discretion is required.

- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army in its sole discretion (i.e. The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $17.61 to $22.01 with a maximum of $26.41.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
