Job Description

THE POSITION


The Sheriffs Office is looking for anAssistant Records and Evidence Manager to assist the Records and Evidence Manager with planning organizing implementing and overseeing all activities of the 24-hour Criminal Records Section and Property Evidence Unit within the Washington County Sheriffs Office (WCSO). The incumbent will exercise and apply professional judgment to complex and sensitive operational issues of the WCSO Criminal Records Section and Property Evidence Unit. This position will assist in the development and implementation of goals objectives policies and priorities related to records and evidence activities both within Washington County and external partner agencies.

They will have a strong understanding of criminal justice procedures chain of custody protocols and evidence handling best practices. Additionally the ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to interact effectively with law enforcement legal professionals and community this role it is important the ideal candidate possesses excellent leadership abilities instrumental in fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. Lastly they will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team and demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.

The Washington County Sheriffs Office (WCSO) is a full-service law enforcement agency located in Hillsboro Oregon serving the residents of the countys urban and rural areas. WCSO enhances public safety by fostering professionalism compassion and trust within its team and the communities it serves. WCSO is the primary first responder for unincorporated residents offering services from routine patrol and crime investigation to specialized teams. The WCSO also operates the countys only jail and provides services to cities within the county on a contract basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Additional Licenses Certificates Physical Abilities and Specialty Requirements:
  • Possession of a LEDS certification is required within six (6) months of appointment.
  • Passage of an extensive criminal history background check conducted by the Sheriffs Office.

  5. Background Investigation:The selected finalist(s) for this position must be able to pass a thorough background investigation conducted by the SheriffsOffice. The background Investigation for this position typically take 6-8 weeks to complete so you will want to plan accordingly. The information that will be required when you complete the Personal History Statement includes but is not limited to:
    • Employment Information (past 10 years or back to age 17; 3 co-workers will be requested from each past employer)
    • Residential Information (past 10 years or back to age 17)
    • Financial Information
    • References (6 without using the same people as coworker or supervisor references)
    • Family Member Information
    • Driving History
    • Past/Present Drug Use and/or Controlled Substances
    • Criminal History
  6. Conditional Offer of Appointment:Human Resources will conduct a salary analysis for the successful candidate(s) and extend an offer of appointment conditional on passing a post-offer drug screen.
  7. Start Date:A start date will be determined after all conditions of employment have been met
