Job Description

Wellesley Middle School is seeking an 8thGrade Science Teacher for a long-term substitute this 1.0 substitute position you will teach four sections of 8th Grade Science 1 section of Flex and co-facilitate an advisory.

Anticipated dates of leave are from the start of the school year through November 17 2025.

Performance responsibilities include:

  • Providing instruction to studentsin a heterogeneously grouped classroom.
  • Ensuring safety in the classroom at all times and safely facilitating labs that involve gas jets Bunsen burners hot plates and glassware.
  • Using effective teaching strategies to develop student agency science skills and science content knowledge.
  • Assessing and monitoring student progress maintaining accurate and complete records of student progress and supporting the social and emotional needs of students through positive relationship building appropriate support and engaging instruction.
  • Working collaboratively withother science teachers team teachers and the Department Head.
