The Gus Bus is hiring for a full-time Administrative Coordinator. The Gus Bus focuses on out-of-school learning that supports the academic achievement of elementary-aged students in the local community. The Gus Bus is one of many programs and clinics within the Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services (IIHHS). IIHHS is an interdisciplinary community-engaged hub that brings together students staff faculty and the community to advance a culture of health and equity through education clinical practice research innovative programs and advocacy. IIHHS is housed within JMUs College of Health and Behavioral Studies (CHBS).

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Gus Bus team provide additional learning time and enrichment opportunities such as read-alouds academic activities and book checkout in after-school time on the Gus Mobile classroom vehicles and at local elementary schools. The Gus Bus program coordinates after-school enrichment and summer programming as well as home-based tutoring for Harrisonburg elementary schools through 21st Century Community Learning Center grants.
The Administrative Coordinator role revolves around managing logistics of the Gus Bus program. The successful candidate will serve as a liaison between the Gus Bus funders school personnel and community partners to organize and implement a successful program for elementary-aged students. Key responsibilities include maintaining clear communication with stakeholders organization of family engagement events and summer programs creating newsletters managing social media outreach and ensuring accurate program data collection and reporting to grant funders and partners. Additionally the role includes recruiting training and supporting JMU student volunteers and contributing to IIHHS-wide initiatives that promote community well-being. The position demands strong organizational and communication skills data management proficiency and the ability to thrive in an independent work environment.
Qualifications:
1. Ability to coordinate multiple schedules and manage complex events efficiently.
2. Strong written and verbal communication for collaborating with partners and volunteers.
3. Experience in tracking and reporting data using systems like Excel and TransAct.
4. Skill in recruiting training and supporting college student volunteers.
5. Proficiency with digital tools including Canva Google Suite Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
6. Capacity to build meaningful relationships with partners community members and team members.
