University Health Network (UHN) is seeking an outstanding motivated professional to fill the key role of Postdoctoral Fellow in our Research Department as part of the prestigious Canada LEADS initiative.

This grant-funded postdoctoral fellowship will focus on engineered heart tissue tissue regeneration and macrophage biology. This is a cutting-edge effort to understand and modulate human cardiac tissue regeneration using engineered macrophages and stem cell-derived cardiac tissues.

The Epelman Lab is seeking a highly motivated organized and innovative individual with exceptional interpersonal skills who thrives in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. The recruitment is part of the Canada Leads 100 Initiative which is UHNs bold new strategy to recruit 100 top scientists from around the world. The successful candidate will contribute to deciphering the mechanisms of macrophage reprogramming and cardiac tissue integration employing advanced molecular cellular and tissue engineering approaches.


Qualifications :

  • PhD received within the last 3 years in Biological Sciences with specialization in stem cell biology or other relevant stem cell system.
  • Strong expertise in molecular biology techniques including CRISPR-Cas9 systems and cloning is essential.
  • Additional experience in:
    • Flow cytometry and immunological assays.
    • Advanced microscopy techniques.
    • Tissue engineering or organoid systems (an asset).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Self-motivated detail-oriented and results-driven.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Publications in high-quality journals required (minimum of one first-author primary research publication).
