Now Hiring: Associate Vice Provost of Academic Affairs

Indian River State College is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to serve as our next Associate Vice Provost of Academic Affairs. This key role supports the Provost by advancing academic strategy ensuring program quality and fostering student success. The ideal candidate is a collaborative forward-thinking professional with a strong background in academic leadership curriculum development and cross-sector engagement.

As Associate Vice Provost youll help shape the future of higher education by guiding strategic initiatives overseeing program assessment supporting grant-funded projects and working closely with internal and external stakeholders to align programs with workforce needs and community priorities.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Associate Vice Provost of Academic Affairs provides strategic counsel to the Provost in matters related to Academic Affairs; Works with College administration to establish and execute the priorities of the College; Ensures student support and success through program quality and assessment; Functions as an educational support person for issues and challenges within Academic Affairs. Works collaboratively with external stakeholders and internal operations to foster new program development student engagement and community relevance.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in formulating both long- and short-range strategic plans/goals related to all academic areas;
  • Serves as the lead Administrator for assigned grants under the purview of Academic Affairs;
  • Supervises program reviews and reports in accordance to established guidelines for the college and/or state and federal projects;
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual reports for all divisions under Academic Affairs and external stakeholders;
  • Works collaboratively with the Deans regarding recruitment retention and completion strategies;
  • Ensures that material to be included in the College catalog are accurate and up-to-date remaining consistent at all times with state and local requirements;
  • Assists in planning and coordination of faculty and staff training;
  • Provides guidance to ensure that programs are of high quality and responsive to rapidly changing community needs;
  • Represents the College at appropriate professional and civic meetings;
  • Receives reviews and approves faculty committee documentation from the Faculty Senate and ensures that committees are functioning appropriately and consistently with the College mission;
  • Participates in conferences of associations and institutions of higher education and maintains other professional contacts to advance the role mission and reputation of the College;
  • Completing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Earned doctorate in an academic field;
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of proven work experience in a college or university setting at a senior level administrative or managerial role;
  • Proven experience in curriculum development and program evalution;
  • Proven experience in project development implementation and management;
  • Proven track record working with diverse industries to develop high impact credit and non-credit programing;
  • Ability to administer a variety of academic occupational and diverse departments;
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities confidence and executive presence;
  • Broad understanding of local state and national issues impacting education;
  • Strong commitment to the college mission and goals with the ability to function as a productive team member within the organization while contributing to the overall performance of the College;
  • Experience working with recruitment enrollment and/or retention initiatives;
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to include strength in presentation skills;
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends;
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to pay close attention to detail;
  • Possession of a strong work ethic along with the ability to exercise good judgment;
  • Ability to positively represent the College at the local state and national level in matters related to workforce programs.
  • Knowledgeable about both traditional and modern job training methods and techniques.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires an ability to sit stand walk bend lift reach up stoop and carry items occasionally more than twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines such as copier fax calculator telephone and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
