About the role

The position contributes to the implementation of the City of Hobarts Waste Management Strategy by supporting the daily delivery of safe efficient and cost-effective waste management operations. A particular focus of the role is on rehabilitation of the landfill and enhanced resource recovery.

Role accountabilities include:

  • Responsible for the delivery of landfill and transfer station operations organic recycling and other waste recycling and resource recovery services.
  • Coordinate the implementation of landfill rehabilitation plans including capping revegetation and erosion control.
  • Operate and maintain plant and equipment at the transfer station in accordance with the plant operation manual and workshop operators standing instructions.
  • Provide information to the general public on effective waste management disposal recovery and recycling activities.

You are a dedicated and safety-conscious professional with experience in waste management operations including landfill transfer stations and resource recovery. You take pride in maintaining clean and compliant sites operating a range of plant and equipment and engaging with the public to promote effective waste disposal and recycling practices. With a strong understanding of environmental standards and WHS procedures youre confident in coordinating rehabilitation plans and managing site traffic to ensure safety for all. You thrive in a team environment demonstrate a strong work ethic and are physically fit for outdoor work. Your commitment to best-practice waste recovery and your ability to collaborate with stakeholders make you a valuable asset to the Waste & Circular Economy Group.
