LOCATION:GibbsSchool Arlington MA
DURATION:Two to eight weeks beginning August 27 2025.
POSITION GOAL:
Middle school math support aims to provide Tier II math instruction and services through a separate classroom model for identified students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Mathematics 5-8 Certification required
- Five or more years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred
- Deep knowledge of current curriculums and state frameworks
- Content and pedagogical understanding of middle school mathematics
- Experience differentiating mathematics instruction for all learners
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with teachers coaches staff and leadership
- Experience communicating with parents/guardians about how children learn mathematics
- Ability to analyze student data and familiarity with spreadsheets
- Ability to discuss student learning data with teachers coaches and leadership
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach multiple sections of math support classes
- Primarily work with students on developing their understanding of mathematics through their strengths
- Collaborate with specialists other interventionists special educators and teacher leaders to foster a Multi-Tiered System of Support.
- Collaborate closely with Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) students and staff to support Multilingual learners (MLs).
- Connect regularly with:
- Role-alike math support teachers across grades 6-8
- The Middle School Mathematics Coach
- The k-12 Director of Mathematics and Computer Science
- The Gibbs school principal and assistant principal
