Looking to build hands-on mechanical skills in a purpose-driven team-oriented environment The Wastewater Treatment Division is hiring for two (2)Industrial Maintenance Workers at our West Point Treatment Plant to become part of the essential work that keeps our region thriving. This entry-level role offers a rare chance to work alongside experienced journey-level mechanics as you learn to repair maintain overhaul and install complex machinery supporting vital wastewater operations. As you contribute to both planned and unscheduled maintenance projects youll gain valuable industrial experience and develop technical expertise that opens doors to long-term career growth in the mechanical field. Whether youre aspiring to become a journey-level mechanic explore specialized trades or pursue certifications this role lays the foundation for a rewarding future in public infrastructure and mechanical systems.

About the Role:
This role supports advanced mechanical maintenance and repair in a highly collaborative team-based setting. The individual will apply their experience to assist in the upkeep and restoration of critical rotating equipment and systemsincluding blowers pumps compressors gear boxes and pipingfound within complex wastewater treatment operations. The position emphasizes strong teamwork a commitment to safe and respectful work practices and active engagement in fostering a positive shop culture. Success in this role includes contributing to high-quality repair standards supporting cross-functional collaboration and maintaining open communication to ensure smooth plant operations.

About the Team:
At West Point Treatment Plant youll be part of a high-performing industrial team committed to keeping essential infrastructure running this environment collaboration is keyteams work side by side on large-scale repairs and maintenance of mechanical systems and other vital equipment. Every task contributes to a reliable operation that supports public health and environmental protection. As part of our maintenance team youll work shoulder-to-shoulder with 11 experienced onsite mechanics gaining hands-on exposure to complex equipment like pumps gearboxes blowers and piping systems.In addition to working closely with fellow mechanics this role will also collaborate regularly with operations supervisors equipment operators and planners to support day-to-day maintenance and operational needs. Employees bring action-oriented energy manage ambiguity with focus and professionalism and apply strong interpersonal skills to solve problems and coordinate across trades. Team members take pride in good shop practices clear communication and fostering a safe respectful space where learning and growth are part of everyday operations.

Qualifications You Bring:
  • Knowledge of the use care and safe operation of basic power and hand tools
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing techniques and principles
  • Basic knowledge of welding techniques
  • Basic knowledge of pumps (normal operation motor components) and types of pumps
  • Skill in oral and written communication techniques and principles ability to read write and follow oral and written instructions using basic level English language skills
  • Basic knowledge of rigging and overhead crane use

    • 60-minutes hands-on skills assessment (mechanical parts identification and welding tasks)
    • 60-minute written test (mathematical and basic tool identification knowledge related to mechanical theory)
  • Virtual panel interviews - End of August (week beginning 8/25)
