Job Description: Elementary Running Club Sponsor

Position Overview:

Lincoln Elementary is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Running Club Sponsor to lead and develop our Elementary School Running Club. The Running Club Sponsor will play a vital role in promoting physical fitness teamwork and a love for running among students. If you are passionate about running and enjoy working with young athletes we invite you to apply. This position reports directly to the Principal.

Responsibilities:

  • Program Development: Plan and implement a comprehensive running club program that includes regular training sessions educational workshops on running techniques and participation in local races and events.
  • Training and Coaching: Conduct running practices that focus on endurance speed and overall fitness. Provide instruction on running techniques injury prevention and proper nutrition.
  • Event Coordination: Organize and coordinate participation in local races fun runs and other running-related events. Arrange transportation and supervision for students during these events.
  • Motivation and Support: Encourage and motivate students to set and achieve personal running goals. Offer individualized coaching and feedback to help students improve their running performance.
  • Team Culture: Foster a positive and inclusive club culture that emphasizes sportsmanship teamwork and respect for all members. Promote a supportive and encouraging environment for runners of all skill levels.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing proper training techniques and maintaining a safe running environment. Adhere to all school and district policies regarding student conduct and safety.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate records of student participation training progress and event outcomes. Communicate regularly with parents school administration and the Athletic Director about club activities and student achievements.
  • Community Engagement: Promote the running club within the school and local community. Organize fundraising activities and community service projects that support the club and its goals.

Qualifications:

  • Running Experience: Previous experience in running preferably at a competitive level with a strong understanding of running techniques training methods and race preparation.
  • Coaching Experience: Experience coaching or leading a running group is advantageous especially in a high school or equivalent setting.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively convey instructions provide feedback and interact with students parents school staff and community members.
  • Leadership: A positive and motivational approach to leading demonstrating leadership both on and off the running track.
  • Inclusivity: Dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive environment that values diversity and promotes the growth of all club members.
  • Availability: Available during after-school hours evenings and weekends for practices events and club-related activities.

Requirements:

  • Completion of background checks and other mandated clearances in accordance with school district policies.
  • Adherence to all school and district guidelines and procedures.
