JOB TITLE: Special Education Teacher - Coteach grades K-3
DEPARTMENT: Education
SUPERVISED BY: Director of Education/Principal
JOB SUMMARYThe Special Education Teacher will coteach with a veteran teacher serving acaseload of up to 14 students with the assistance of teaching assistantsclinical social workers speech pathologist occupational therapist certifiedspecial education teachers and educational director. We are a smalltherapeutic school (up to 48 students) located in Manchester CT. Theschool is part of the CCGC that has been connecting with families since1959.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establishes meaningful connections with students as they work towards returning to their public-school settings
- Designs educational programs for students based on assessments and presents their findings at Team meetings and PPTs
- Maintains communication with certified special education teachers school social workersspeech and language pathologist teaching assistants occupational therapist serving the students
- Participates in ongoing professional developmentincluding the ARC framework and CPI
- Orders classroom supplies and teaching materials

QUALIFICATIONSB.A. required M.A. preferred
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONThe Special Education Teacher shall be certified by the Connecticut StateDepartment of Education holding a Special Education Certificate 165 orequivalent.
