Summary
- * This position is openonlytocurrentKing Countyemployeeswho have passed their probationary period in their current Career Service position.*King County Metro Transit Facilitieshas an exciting opportunity for a Power Distribution Technical Assistant.The Technical Assistant is responsible forproviding technical assistance for the trolley overhead and underground systems and equipment as well as the electrical and lighting systems and equipment at all transit facilities and properties.
This recruitment will immediately fill one (1) Special Duty Assignment (SDA)position and mayalso be used to create an eligibility pool for future SDA valid up to 12 months or until exhausted and at the discretion of the hiring authority. The duration of the assignment isanticipatedto end 12/31/2025 with the possibility to extend.Interviews are anticipated to occur during the week of August 4th 2025but are subject to change.

As theTechnical Assistantyou will:- Act as the project manager for the maintenance and installation of special projects.
- Provide design and specifications for operation and maintenance procedures.
- Research design and develop specifications for all electrical systems modifications and construction projects with the section.
- Prepare plan schedule and set priorities for project work.
- Provide guidance for underground crews.
- Review field inspections and evaluate priorities of trolley overhead system checked out by line crews.
- Review accident reports and provide estimates for damage repair and remuneration made by Seattle Police affecting trolley overhead systems and other electrical systems and equipment.
- Respond to customer complaints on trolley overhead system rework on expansion proposals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
Experienceandproficiencywith MS Office Suite applications such as Word ExcelTeamsSharePointand Outlook.
Experience in planning and scheduling techniques and principles.
Skill in conducting research on a specific work assignment.
Problem-solving & analytical skills.
Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing.
Experience in reading and interpreting engineering and architectural drawings.
Knowledge of electricalsafety and construction codes.
Skill inestablishingand maintaining effective working relationshipswith a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Valid Washington State Drivers License and acceptable driving record.
DesirableQualifications:Two years of electrical experience.
Experience in the use of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) or equivalentsystems.
Knowledge ofMetro Transit Facilities Power Distribution operations.
Knowledge of project management principles and organizational skills.

Work Location and Schedule
The work location will be at Power Distribution Headquarters (2255 Fourth Ave S Seattle WA).This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is not eligible for overtime pay.
