The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
1. SECTION 1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
1.1. The Protestant Worship Accompanist (from this point on identified as Musician) will provide instrumental music support for the Protestant worship services and rehearsals as identified in this statement of work. The Dyess Chaplain Corps Team (from this point on identified as the
Customer) shall provide all personnel equipment supervision and other items and services necessary to support the Customer for Dyess Air Force Base Abilene Texas in accordance with this JOB DESCRIPTION. All work performed by the musician shall be performed in accordance with all applicable laws regulations standards instructions and commercial practices.
1.2. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Musician shall meet the following qualifications as part of this requirement.
1.2.1. Be at least 18 years old.
1.2.2. Have a High School diploma or equivalent.
1.2.3. Be musically proficient.
1.2.3.1. Be able to read music and improvise musically.
1.2.3.2. Be proficient in playing guitar or keyboard with the ability to accompany
the congregation choral groups and soloists.
1.2.3.3. Be able to play collaboratively with other musicians.
1.2.3.4. Have working knowledge of and musical skill in current Contemporary
Christian music and popular hymns and the ability to plan/lead congregational worship in keeping with the style/type of worship being celebrated.
1.2.3.5. Perform an audition with music of choice and selected sight reading to demonstrate musical proficiency.
1.2.4. Have minimum of two years experience leading Protestant Contemporary worship music in a church environment. (Although not required experience with recruiting instructing and conducting volunteer worship bands and vocalists is preferred.
1.2.5. Be positive spiritually sensitive and able to work with Chapel staff members Chapel volunteers and congregational members.
1.2.5.1. Be able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing in English.
1.2.5.2. Be skilled at resolving interpersonal conflicts and promote constructive working relations.
1.2.6. Undergo a government federal background investigation at government expense in accordance with DOD regulations.
1.3. JOB DESCRIPTION: Musician shall perform the following duties as part of this requirement.
1.3.1. Provide worship leadership and musical accompaniment during weekly worship services for the congregation. In the Musicians Primary Employees absence the Musician will arrange for an equally qualified substitute to be present to provide services according to this job description. Substitute must be approved through the Contracting Officer Representative (COR). There will be no paid sick leave or paid ordinary leave. Except for emergencies the COR/Chaplain must be notified of substitution NLT one week prior to the next service.
1.3.1.1. Work with the sponsoring service Chaplain in selecting preparing and performing music from appropriate church sources keeping with the style/type of worship being celebrated and relating to the theme established by assigned Scripture readings and/or religious seasons.
1.3.1.2. Prepare worship slides with song lyrics to facilitate congregational singing as needed.
1.3.1.3. Have music and necessary equipment ready NLT 15 minutes prior to the start of services and rehearsals.
1.3.1.4. Wear attire appropriate for family worship during worship services and act in a professional manner while performing this contract.
1.3.1.5. Remain present for the entire timeframe of any contracted rehearsal performance or worship service.
1.3.1.6. Ensure that all equipment and/or furnishings are turned off and/or returned to their proper place following services.
1.3.2. Recruit train and maintain a volunteer base for the Protestant worship team.
1.3.3. Adhere to Chapel policy and Air Force regulations regarding Chapel Tithes and Offering Funds (CTOF) Appropriated Funds and facility scheduling for rehearsals in support of music programs.
1.3.4. Coordinate all support requirements with the Service Chaplain or a designated representative.
1.3.5. The government shall provide common work area equipment and supplies for use by the Musician in performance of official duties.
1.3.6. The Musician is accountable for security and cleanliness of all facilities utilized in conjunction with their programs.

This is a part-time position with compensation based on budget and the successful candidates experience and qualifications.
