The current schedule for this position consists of four 10-hour shifts 8:00am-6:00pm Monday through Friday (Day Off TBD).
SUMMARY
Under immediate supervision to perform the cleaning of the animal shelter and perform responsible specialized clerical and computer data entry work for the Animal Services Division; and to assist animal services officers in the performance of their duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Participate in the daily maintenance of the animal shelter; cleaning supply food water and other care for animals each morning.
- Observe monitor and assist the public at the counter; respond to questions and routine requests for information; collect monies for services provided as required.
- Provides information to the public by use of the telephone and in person regarding receiving and releasing animals locating lost and found animals and general inquiries.
- Explain to the public ordinances relating to the care and keeping of animals.
- Receives complaints in person and by telephone and creates calls to be dispatched.
- Accounts for monies received at the shelter in accordance with city policies and procedures.
- Safely handle animals at the front counter and in the shelter.
- Administer vaccinations medications and microchips for animals.
- Perform a wide variety of administrative support work including typing proofreading filing checking and recording information on records.
- Record and compile statistical reports.
- Operate office equipment including word processors computers scanners printers calculator and copy machines.
- Respond to officers requests for information.
- Quarantine and dispose of animals as appropriate.
- Performs euthanasia of animals in accordance with applicable animal control ordinances policies and procedures. Makes budget recommendations to the supervisor regarding the maintenance upkeep and improvements at the shelter.
- Maintain detailed records of daily activities impounds animals released adopted or euthanized and fee collections.
- May provide training to new Animal Services Technicians.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: One year of janitorial or general office clerical work experience. Previous experience caring for animals preferred.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Valid Utah Drivers License
- Ability to obtain and maintain UCJIS Certification

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work in a standard office environment and in an animal shelter which includes siting kneeling bending stooping twisting standing walking and cleaning kennels cages and other areas of the animal shelter. Exposure to animal noise and cleaning chemicals.
