Position Description

St. Francis Xavier University is a top-ranking Canadian university. We are seeking a Financial Analyst to assist the Finance team with the processing and analysis of banking transactions and general accounting duties. Reporting to the Manager Finance & Control the Financial Analyst will prepare financial reporting documents and bank deposits coordinate and process deposits from other campus groups record and upload journal entries and prepare and coordinate several reconciliations. The Financial Analyst is the central point of contact for deposit and credit card questions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries from a variety of sources including the usage of Excel or Access for processing.
  • Coordinate credit card and campus deposit functions and ensure processes are followed by stakeholders.
  • Process campus deposits and prepare the bank deposit for the universitys primary bank account.
  • Review bank transactions cancel cheques and coordinate with stakeholders to process unrecorded items.
  • Provide training on deposit requirements to stakeholders on campus
  • Perform reconciliations of secondary bank accounts credit card clearing accounts and other accounts as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of relevant finance experience and education;
  • Strong computer literacy (Excel Office 365)
  • Experience with Microsoft Access and financial information systems considered an asset
  • Strong analytical skills organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communication skills (verbal written relationship building)
