Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Programs for University Recreation reports to the Director of University Recreation. This position supports campus health and well-being by leading the oversight and support to creating a thriving atmosphere for University Recreation programs. The Assistant Director of Programs primarily works with Competitive Sports (Intramurals and Sport Clubs) Fitness Govs Outdoors and Summer Camp in the department of University Recreation. As a department leader this position collaborates in a cross-divisional and cross-institutional approach to create a vibrant campus atmosphere that inspires and develops student health and well-being. The Assistant Director of Programs will serve as a student-centered leader who seeks to create a thriving recreation environment that contributes to the holistic success of students through supporting the development of student leaders in Competitive Sports curating a vibrant recreation presence on campus and promotion of initiatives that create an enriched and engaged student experience. The Assistant Director of Programs is responsible for the supervision of two full-time staff Coordinators for Govs Outdoors and Fitness as well as student assistants and temporary employees for Competitive Sports and Summer Camp. Additionally this position works directly with college students organization management program planning and working in a fast-paced dynamic environment to advance the vision of Student Affairs at Austin Peay State University. The Assistant Director of Programs will seek continuous and integrated improvements on all such matters and collaborating with campus partners to achieve division goals.
