Job title and description: Graduate Assistant - Math Support Pathways
The Learning Commons Math Support Pathways program invites students to apply for a Graduation Assistant position to work with and assist the Math Peer Educators as they provide a critical role to provide academic assistance to increase success rates for students in B4 courses. The Math Support Pathways Learning Commons Graduate Assistant will act as a faculty liaison between the Learning Commons and math faculty. They will assist with recruitment development and scheduling of math peer educator staff associated with the Support Pathways.
Job Description:
Assist with the development and scheduling of math peer educators.
Implement learning support models designed to support students from diverse backgrounds.
Collect or create math learning support resources and tools accessible to participants and/or peer educators.
Assist with assessment of programmatic and holistic student success outcomes.
Promote use of embedded learning support as well as related learning support services available through the Learning Commons.
Meet with faculty and peer educators to discuss learning challenges strategies and mid-semester support interventions.
Assist with recruitment of peer educator staff by building recruitment systems into programs.
Work collaboratively and attend planning meetings with Learning Commons faculty and peer educators.
Wage/Salary: $1540/month based on 19 hours worked/week and at 0.475 FTE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
Completion of Bachelors degree.
Enrolled in Graduate Program
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience as a peer educator (Tutoring and/or Supplemental Instruction)
Previous experience as a peer educator (Tutoring and/or Supplemental Instruction)
Strong organization interpersonal and communication skills
Work under pressure and appropriately handle difficult situations
Committed to helping others and working within a team
Open-minded flexible and adaptable to change
Possess self-motivation willingness to provide and accept constructive

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CLEARANCE NOTICE
The university requires a criminal and/or child abuse background check to be completed for many of its new employees current employees seeking promotional or transfer opportunities and current employees assigned new duties. Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
