Whats the role

As a Lawyer / Senior Lawyer you will provide legal advice on day-to-day matters within the Business Transaction Banking line of business including pricing changes compliance incidents regulatory engagement marketing initiatives and customer-specific queries from front-line staff. Offering legal support for projects involving new product and feature development product changes and third-party partnerships. Additionally you will contribute to the Legal function by supporting knowledge management shaping house views and fostering a positive team culture. This role requires a proactive approach to legal risk management and collaboration across business units to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and strategic objectives.

What do I need

  • 8 10 years PQE as a lawyer at a reputable law firm and/or in-house at a financial services institution including with experience in financial services regulation.
  • Extensive experience providing legal advice in relation to business transaction banking products.
  • Knowledge of (and ability to apply) relevant legislation and industry codes including Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act (including the anti-hawking and DDO provisions) the ASIC Act (including the unfair contract terms provisions) the Banking Code of Practice the Privacy Act and the Spam Act.
  • Ability to provide commercial outcomes-focussed legal advice.
  • Ability to communicate concisely and with impact to senior business partners tailoring for stakeholder requirements seniority and forum
