As a Senior Software Engineer on the Communication team you will play a vital role in this wider vision of connection and civility. We are currently expanding our team - as we look to invest more in our chat product. You will help us expand and improve our existing private chat functionality keeping in mind how best to serve a diverse user base across a wide range of devices/platforms. If you are passionate about client development tackling complex technical challenges creating scalable and high-performance user experiences and envisioning innovative and safe communication features this is an ideal opportunity for you.
You Will:
- Design and architect highly engaging and immersive communication features on client-side - working in Web and App.
- Drive projects - that both expand our existing features and help iterate on existing ones - take ownership throughout its full lifecycle.
- Collaborate with other engineers across multiple teams to develop best practices and share with both our team and beyond.
- Be self-organised - identify gaps and improve our processes around experimentation testing performance monitoring and execution in general to help us be more effective and efficient.
- Guide and drive high quality standards while we iterate on feature development - both in terms of code quality and user experience.
- Also help shape and develop our team culture helping us find opportunities to improve our processes and co-create a culture that makes sure everyone is able to succeed.
- Help recruit future talent and mentor engineers on the team
You Have:
- 3 years of experience as a front-end or client apps engineer working on complex user interfaces in close collaboration with product and design partners.
- Experience working on large-scale consumer applications in React/Redux React Native iOS Android Windows Mac OS and other platforms.
- Knowledge of testing methodologies including tools like Jest React Testing Library or other comparable technologies.
- Passion for quality user interfaces and user experience experience working with
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent practical experience.

- Knowledgeable: You understand all aspects of designing and building high performant clients and robust systems that are extensible and reliable.

- Creative: You take a creative and strategic approach to solving hard problems and envisioning ways to optimize and grow the capabilities of the system. You have a vision for what can make a product phenomenal.
- Collaborative: You enjoy working with others and actively seek multiple points of view to develop the best solutions - and support others as they flesh out their ideas. You are keen to be a part of developing our team culture and to share your knowledge with everyone on the team.
