Staff Specialist Cardiologist
Electrophysiology & General Cardiology Public Health Service Tasmania
Permanent Full-Time $216300 $296640 Incentives & Allowances
We are recruiting for a leading tertiary hospital in southern Tasmania that is seeking a dedicated Staff Specialist Cardiologist with expertise in electrophysiology to join their well-established Cardiology Department. This position offers an excellent mix of clinical teaching and research responsibilities in one of Australias most scenic and lifestyle-friendly regions.
The Role:
As a Consultant Cardiologist you will contribute to the general clinical workload of the department and play a key leadership role in the delivery of electrophysiology services. You will work within a highly integrated team that includes a Coronary Care Unit Cardiology Ward Cardiac Catheter Lab and Non-Invasive Testing Unit. Services also extend statewide and include telehealth where appropriate.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing inpatient and outpatient cardiology services with a focus on heart rhythm disorders
- Leading weekly case discussions for complex device implantation and ablation
- Supporting nurse-led clinics in electrophysiology and rhythm management
- Participating in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education
- Contributing to quality improvement clinical governance and ongoing service development
- Actively participating in research and maintaining a strong academic presence
Key Requirements:
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Cardiology
- Sub-specialisation in electrophysiology and cardiac devices strongly preferred
- Current or eligible Specialist Registration with AHPRA
- Demonstrated clinical leadership in tertiary or large regional hospital settings
- Commitment to evidence-based care teaching and continuous improvement
Remuneration & Benefits:
- Base Salary: $216300 $296640 per annum (dependent on experience and seniority)
- Access to senior specialist rates (up to $310389) if eligible
- Allowances:
- CPD Allowance: $16974 p.a. (pro rata)
- On-call allowance and potential earnings through the Private Patient Scheme
- Motor vehicle allowance or fully maintained vehicle option
