Galambila Aboriginal Corporation (trading as Galambila Aboriginal Health Service) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service located in Coffs Harbour NSW.

Galambila has empowered the Aboriginal Health Workforce to support clients through their health and wellbeing journey in the service.

Galambila serves the Aboriginal communities of Coffs Harbour Urunga Bellingen Woolgoolga and provides outreach services at Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre. We also collaborate in service delivery across in the broader region with other communities.

About the role

The Manager Community Programs & Engagement is part of Galambilas Leadership Team. They will oversee that a number of community health programs are delivered through culturally appropriate and Aboriginal community engagement activities.

The role will lead a small Community Programs & Engagement team to ensure a strengths-based and Aboriginal community-informed practice is embedded in those programs to enhance wellbeing and empower the Aboriginal community accessing Galambila services and supports.

The role will also lead the organisation including partnering with other business areas in strategically fostering relationships and partnerships with our community that is culturally informed and community/client centred and driven.

You will be responsible for reporting back to funding bodies on service delivery activities and have the opportunity to identify new funding opportunities to embed within Galambilas service offerings.

Galambila AHS is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation and will preference Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants in this role as it is a genuine occupational requirement arguable under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act (NSW).

Benefits and Perks

A competitive salary package will be negotiated with the successful applicant with an ability to salary sacrifice up to $31177 per annum. Salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant based on prior skills knowledge and experience.

Skills and Experience

Preference will be given to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants.

To be successful in this role you will have a variety of skills including:

Essential

Aboriginal community Partnerships and collaboration: Develops models and protocols for working in formal and informal partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to achieve and improve health and related outcomes.

Program management and development: Manages programs and teams to achieve defined deliverables within timelines and budgets; envisions and designs new programs and targets where required.

Interpersonal skills: Models self-awareness self-management and social awareness in communications problem-solving and conflict resolution; Motivates others through personal interactions and mentors development of staff.

Written communication: Writes accurate succinct reports and documents for Management Board funding bodies and key stakeholders.

Problem solving: Implements systems to address adverse events and problems and assists teams to take proactive approaches to problem solving.

Strategic focus: Develops team plans with clear targets and goals linked to strategic plan.

Funding applications: Prepares grant submissions project plans proposals and negotiates for resources with funding bodies.

Desirable:

in an Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation leading a team delivering programs direct to Aboriginal community members.

of community services and service delivery gaps in the region.

Licence

C Class drivers licence is mandatory for this role.

Qualifications

There are no mandatory qualifications for this role however the following qualifications are highly regarded:

An Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker qualification

Community Program and Engagement; or

Allied Health and/or including Health Promotion.
