Job Description

Position: Instructional Support Specialist

Department: Instructional

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer /Local Administration/ MaST Schools Network

Qualifications:

  1. B.A/B.S. Degree in Education
  2. Appropriate State of Pennsylvania Department of Education Teaching Certificate in the appropriate content area.
  3. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design teaching and instruction for individuals and groups and the measurement of instructional effects.
  4. Demonstrate a working knowledge of Common Core and Pennsylvania Standards learning styles curricula and data analysis across K-12.
  5. Strong leadership and communication skills.
  6. Demonstrate an ability to facilitate communication among coworkers students and parents.
  7. Knowledge of GSuite Applications: Drive Docs Sheets Slides Forms etc.
  8. Must be able to evaluate problems prioritize work and determine solutions.
  9. Must possess and maintain valid Pennsylvania school clearances.

Job Overview: The Instructional Support Specialist will support the development of instructional practices across grade levels and content areas. This role is designed to enhance teacher effectiveness increase student achievement and build a culture of continuous professional growth. The coach will work collaboratively with teachers administrators and support staff to implement high-quality instruction aligned with state standards and the schools mission.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support classroom teachers through modeling co-teaching and lesson planning aligned to PA Core Standards
  2. Collaborate with teachers to analyze student data and develop targeted interventions
  3. Develop and deliver professional development sessions based on identified instructional needs
  4. Provide ongoing non-evaluative feedback to teachers to support growth and improvement
  5. Promote the integration of technology and STREAM concepts into daily instruction
  6. Assist with curriculum design mapping and resource alignment across grade levels
  7. Observe classroom instruction and support reflective practices with teaching staff
  8. Facilitate instructional rounds learning walks and peer collaboration opportunities
  9. Maintain knowledge of current educational research and best practices

  10. Serve as a liaison between instructional staff and administration on matters of curriculum and instruction
  11. Monitor implementation of school-wide initiatives related to instruction and provide coaching support
  12. Participate in the planning and implementation of professional learning communities (PLCs)
  13. Provide differentiated support for new teachers and those requiring targeted coaching
  14. Help ensure fidelity of academic programming and instructional compliance (e.g. IEPs accommodations)
  15. Assist in school data collection efforts and assessment administration as needed

Professional Obligations:

  1. Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
  2. Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in developing evaluating and revising school programs.
  3. Prepare reports on students and activities as required by the administration.
  4. Attend professional meetings educational conferences and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
  5. Attend staff meetings and have the opportunity to serve on committees.
  6. Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs student organizations and academic contests.
  7. Adhere to Professional Standard of Conduct including confidentiality code of ethics and appropriate internet use as outlined in the Policy and Procedures manual and Staff Handbook.
  8. Follow all approved board of trustee policies including Financial and Purchasing Attendance RtII and Curriculum Implementation.
  9. Perform administrative duties such as assisting the school media center hall cafeteria monitoring and bus loading and unloading.
  10. Complete school-mandated technology PD hours.
  11. Perform all additional related duties and responsibilities as designated by the Local Administration CEO or Network Team.

Terms of Employment: Ten (10) months. Contract terms and salary to be determined by the Board of Trustees.

Evaluation: The performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of state law administrative code and the Boards policy on the evaluation for this position.
