What this opportunity involves:
Lead strategic asset management across the Finance Owned Estates diverse portfolio of commercial offices special purpose facilities and residential properties. Apply your technical engineering expertise to optimise property performance ensure compliance and implement effective strategies that align with government objectives. As Technical Engineering Advisor you will advance asset management initiatives support capital works administration and deliver efficient project outcomes that enhance the overall value of the Commonwealths property assets.
An overview of the role:
Develop building engineering strategies across mechanical electrical HVAC and fire safety systems
Drive financial optimisation through performance analysis and identify cost-saving initiatives
Act as the critical liaison between clients JLL teams and the Planned Works Program Management Office
Lead technical assessments for capital projects including prioritisation of asset replacements
Oversee commissioning processes ensuring comprehensive handover to operational teams
Champion sustainability initiatives monitoring NABERS assessments to meet Net Zero Policy requirements
Analyse work order data to identify systemic issues and strategic opportunities for improvement
Build and maintain positive relationships with government entity stakeholders
Conduct regular performance reviews to optimise building systems efficiency
Support preventative maintenance frameworks aligned with WoAG PAMP Reference Guide standards

Were seeking an experienced Technical Engineering Advisor who combines strategic vision with hands-on technical expertise to manage our complex government property portfolio. Youll bring proven ability to develop innovative asset strategies deliver measurable performance improvements and navigate government stakeholder relationships while maintaining strong technical proficiency.
Minimum 7 years experience managing asset strategies for mixed portfolios preferably in Government sectors
Qualification in electrical mechanical or related engineering/trade field
Expertise in building systems with knowledge of HSSE regulations Australian Standards and the National Construction Code
Technical engineering skills to develop specifications and oversee quality assurance processes
Experience in strategic asset management and financial oversight
Advanced analytical skills with MS Office proficiency particularly Excel
Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities
Track record implementing sustainability initiatives in property portfolios
Strategic problem-solving skills and adaptability
Australian Citizen eligible for AGSVA Clearance to Negative Vetting 2 level
