PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Sterilization Technician assists the dental team in providing efficient and effective care and treatment of patients. The Sterilization Technician is responsible for assisting with the set-up of instrumentation for dental appointments instrument and supply inventory breakdown of operatories following patient care and procedures disinfection of operatory working surfaces and processing dental equipment through standardized cleaning and sterilization steps. The Sterilization Technician works as part of an integrated care team to provide high quality coordinated care.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES
- Responsible for ensuring all dental instruments are properly cleaned disinfected and sterilized following patient treatment and examinations to ensure timely delivery of sterile instruments and equipment.
- Operate disinfection (ultrasonic) and sterilization equipment (autoclave) to eliminate harmful microorganisms.
- Maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Collect disassemble clean package (cassettes or bags) and sterilize instruments. Organize instruments to prevent damage ensure sterility and expedite operatory setup.
- Maintain inventory of instruments and supplies within the dental laboratory and ensure proper storage of items used for patient care. Communicate with Dental Team Leader when supplies are needed or damaged instruments should be replaced.
- Set up instrumentation in operatories prior to patient appointments and break down operatories following patient care. Ensure operatories are cleaned sanitized and stocked appropriately.
- Participate in quality control measures to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Understand infection control policies and protocols and ensure compliance with said guidelines while performing duties in the dental laboratory and operatories.
- Maintaining required sterilization process logs and records of and equipment maintenance.
- Work closely with dental staff to ensure effective communication and smooth patient workflow.
- Perform related work and other duties or tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
Successful applicants will be mature and well organized with pleasant personality and speaking voice. Must be proficient in operating sterilization equipment and meticulous in follow guidelines and protocols. Must be able to grasp and manually manipulate instruments carry instrument trays and cassettes and be able to stand for extended periods of time. Position requires verbal and written communication. Ability to communicate information clearly and effectively with colleagues. Ability to work effectively with co-workers as a team member.

ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountable to the Dental Back Office Team Leader and Service Line Manager.
SALARY
$14.29 per hour based on experience.
WORK HOURS
18-20 hours per week - Part Time position.
Hours: 10:00am-4:00pm
Days: Tuesday Wednesday Thursday
