Job Description

Summary:
Providence Health is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist for a 13-week contract at their PSJMC Nuclear Medicine Department. This role supports both inpatient and outpatient settings and involves a variety of imaging procedures including SPECT PET/CT and myocardial perfusion studies. Ideal candidates are certified licensed in California and comfortable with Epic charting and dual-site float coverage.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals for imaging and therapeutic purposes

  • Conduct diagnostic imaging procedures including SPECT bone scans thyroid studies and myocardial perfusion testing

  • Operate GE* and Siemens* equipment for accurate image capture

  • Perform PET and PET/CT scans as applicable

  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and ensure radiation safety compliance

  • Start and maintain peripheral IVs and draw venous blood as needed

  • Maintain accurate documentation in Epic (preferred) and PACS

  • Collaborate with radiologists and referring providers for image interpretation and clinical workflow

  • Float between hospital and outpatient imaging locations

Key Requirements:
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Nuclear Medicine Tech experience

  • First-time travelers accepted

  • Must be willing to float between OP center and hospital

  • No on-call required

  • RTO must be submitted with application

  • Experience in both teaching and community hospital settings is preferred

Qualifications

Education:
Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program

Experience:
Minimum 1 year in a clinical Nuclear Medicine setting

License & Certifications:

  • BLS Required

  • ARRT (Nuclear) or NMTCB Required

  • California State License Required

  • ARRT R Preferred

Skills:

(Preferred marked with asterisk)

Imaging Procedures & Modalities:

  • Bone Scans: Whole Body 3-Phase Limited

  • Shunt Studies: Abdominal Ventricular

  • Myocardial Imaging: Adenosine Exercise/Rest Persantine Pharmacologic Stress

  • SPECT (Bone Brain Liver Renal)

  • PET/CT*

  • Thyroid Imaging: Cancer Survey I-123 Uptake Sestamibi Parathyroid

  • Renal Imaging: Captopril Lasix Flow/Function

  • Brain Scan: Cerebral Blood Flow

  • Lung Scan: DTPA Aerosol Ventilation/Perfusion

Work Settings:

  • Clinic

  • Hospital

  • ER Adult ICU (preferred experience)

Professional Competencies:

  • Drawing venous blood

  • Starting and maintaining peripheral IVs

  • PACS proficiency

  • Epic charting system (preferred)

  • Radiation safety contrast administration and phlebotomy

Equipment Experience:

  • GE*

  • Siemens*
