The Outreach Coordinator collaborates with the Pastor in assessing all aspects of welcoming and hospitality in the pastorate with the goal of enhancing the mission of evangelization. The Outreach Coordinator identifies and/or develops a variety of welcoming and hospitality initiatives and collaborates with colleagues in determining the optimal ways of integrating those initiatives into the fabric of pastoral life.
Essential Functions:
- Performs duties to ensure that programs sacramental preparation and liturgies are welcoming and focus on the following:
- Active parishioner engagement;
- Outreach and invitation to those new to the geographical community;
- Outreach and invitation to people of various ethnic backgrounds;
- Initial connection and follow-up with families participating in sacramental preparation and experiencing significant life events (death/funerals; birth of a child/baptisms; weddings;
- Ongoing follow-up and invitation with new parishioners and new Catholics;
- Outreach and invitation to the poor and those who are marginalized;
- Intercultural and intergenerational education formation and social activities
- Recruits volunteers for various ministries ensuring that recruiting efforts target all appropriate age and ethnic groups; forms and provides support to volunteers.
- Establishes and implements metrics to determine the effectiveness of hospitality and welcoming efforts.
- Provides ongoing support to the Pastor to ensure that ministries actively seek out and welcome new members
Position Qualifications:
- Practicing and devoted Catholic who is fully able to participate in the sacramental life of the Church.
- Two or more years of experience in parish ministry as an employee or volunteer is required.
- Ability to witness to a personal relationship with the living God in age-appropriate and culturally appropriate ways.
- Excellent interpersonal and relational capability and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Pastoral Team and volunteers.
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to take initiative on projects and programs.
- Regular attendance at weekend or evening meetings may be required.
- Excellent discretion and judgment to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
- Must model Christian attitudes and behaviors and adhere to the Archdiocesan Code of Conduct.
Range:$20.00 - $24.00 Hourly
