POSITION SPECIFICS
The Office of Physical Plant at Penn State is seeking applicants for a Controls Engineer position that will be responsible for providing Engineering Controls support to all utility operating units of the University which include all industrial control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing control systems and strategies for industrial applications.
Performing system and network calculations to ensure stability and reliability.
Programming and implementing PLCs SCADA systems and DCS systems.
Collaborating with other engineers technicians and clients to discuss and solve problems related to the system.
Developing and maintaining system documentation including functional specifications design specifications test plans and operational manuals.
Integrating different components of a control system including controllers sensors and actuators.
Assessing and upgrading existing control systems as required.
Providing technical support to the Controls Supervisor and the assigned technicians.
Ensuring all Penn State regulatory and safety requirements are met.
Staying updated with the latest control systems technologies and industry trends.
Performing design reviews and maintaining the Design and Construction Standards.
Additional Responsibilities:
Specifying testing and implementing steam plant generator control systems black start procedure and island mode automation.
Assisting with the integration of all utilities into a centralized control room.
Supporting electrical utility engineering for new construction power system analysis and distribution planning.
MINIMUM EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree 6 years of relevant experience Required Certifications: NoneBACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. SALARY & BENEFITS
