Job Title: Senior Cognitive Engineer Location: Dallas Metroplex (on-site)
Overview: A forward-thinking organization is seeking a Senior Cognitive Engineer to help lead the development of cutting-edge customer-facing conversational AI solutions. This role is ideal for someone passionate about pushing innovation in voice and messaging technologies while working in a dynamic cross-functional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and enhance AI-powered applications supporting voice and text-based user experiences
- Design and train custom speech recognition and acoustic models
- Leverage SSML to elevate speech synthesis quality and clarity
- Implement phonetic adjustments to improve pronunciation in speech output
- Analyze and fine-tune dialog performance across conversational platforms
- Partner with product engineering cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure robust solution delivery
- Develop and interpret reporting insights to guide AI strategy and business alignment
- Maintain adherence to internal standards and industry best practices
Qualifications: Technical Skills:

5 7 years of software engineering experience with a focus on NLP/NLU technologies

3 5 years of direct experience working with cognitive platforms (e.g. IBM Watson or similar)

Proficiency in Java Python R JSON and working knowledge

Demonstrated ability in developing dialog systems and virtual agents

Understanding of key conversational design frameworks (e.g. slot filling disambiguation)
Preferred Experience:

Familiarity with SaaS-focused conversational AI implementations

Experience in navigating compliance within regulated sectors like finance or healthcare

Knowledge of pre-trained language models and cognitive evaluation methods

Awareness of IT governance frameworks and methodologies
