The Interim Executive Director provides short-term executive leadership and operational oversight during a leadership transition period. The IED ensures continuity of services supports the senior leadership team and maintains accountability to the Board of Directors. The IED will focus on organizational stability employee engagement compliance stakeholder communication and preparing the organization for a successful transition to a permanent Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Governance
Provide strategic leadership and maintain alignment with the organizations mission vision and values.
Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and staff.
Support the Board with timely reporting policy advice and strategic input.
Ensure compliance with applicable legislation funder requirements and sector standards.
Operational Oversight
Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure service continuity.
Support coach and provide direction to members of the Senior Leadership Team.
Monitor key performance indicators and ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Oversee emergency management and risk mitigation.
Human Resources & Team Culture
Foster a respectful inclusive and collaborative workplace culture.
Oversee staff performance development and morale.
AddressstaffingissuesinconsultationwiththeBoardHRandlegal advisors where appropriate.
Financial Stewardship
Monitor budgets and financial reports in collaboration with finance staff.
Ensure responsible stewardship of resources in line with approved budgets and funding agreements.
Communicate regularly with the Board Finance Committee.
External Relations & Communication
Act as a spokesperson and representative for Choices as needed.
Maintain relationships with stakeholders including funders community partners and families.
Communicate transparently with staff Board and community members regarding organizational developments.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Social Services Community Health Disability Studies or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
Minimumof5yearsofseniorleadershipexperiencepreferablyin developmental services or a related social services sector.
Knowledge of Ontarios DS sector funding frameworks (MCCSS) and relevant legislation (QAM OHSA ESA).
Proven ability to lead through transition and uncertainty.
Strong understanding of non-profit governance and accountability.
Excellent communication facilitation and interpersonal skills.
