Job Description
The Legal team supports Datadogs rapid growth by providing a wide range of legal services across a highly dynamic technology company from driving new business via contracts and compliance efforts to protecting Datadogs offerings. Datadogs Legal team collaborates with virtually every team across the organization from engineering to product to marketing. Within the Legal team the Commercial Alliances & Procurement Legal team is mainly focusing on all commercial engagements channel & alliances agreements procurement matters and all related legal topics.
This opportunity provides a chance to play a critical role in the success of a rapidly growing and innovative SaaS company in the APJ region. In this role you will continue developing your negotiation and communication skills in support of sophisticated SaaS deals while also having the opportunity to influence and refine Datadogs business and operational policies. This customer-facing role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams such as sales deal desk procurement privacy customer trust and product legal serving as a trusted advisor known for providing strong solutions and practical advice. Moreover this position will offer exposure to cutting-edge SaaS technology areas such as privacy security and AI/ML allowing you to stay at the forefront of the industry.

What Youll Do:
- Review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements and ancillary documents such as DPAs to support customer sales and partners.
- Partner with a seasoned legal team to provide practical and decisive guidance to internal business teams.
- Coach sales team members on strategies for negotiating with customers including delivery of regular internal training sessions.
- Support the ongoing improvement of our contract templates in line with emerging laws and regulations across the APJ region along with associated playbooks and processes as well as advise on the compliance issues in the region.
- Collaborate with other teams within Legal and across the company to support Datadogs acceleration of revenue generation and reduction of risk by being a trusted advisor translating business needs to contractual commitments and legal advice.
- Liaise with and advise other Datadog stakeholders across the APJ region including those in Deal Desk People/HR and Procurement.
Who You Are:
- A seasoned qualified attorney with at least 10 years law firm and/or in-house commercial transactional experience in the APJ region including familiarity with negotiating SaaS contracts and related technology areas including privacy information security and intellectual property.
- Fluent in English and ideally another regional language with excellent communication skills in both languages.
- Someone who thrives in negotiating communicating and educating.
- Someone with integrity excellent judgment and a high degree of emotional intelligence; you are prepared to build strong collaboration channels with peers and stakeholders across the business and ready to identify pathways to success with our customers.
- Comfortable working independently adhering to established processes and able to recognize when you need guidance.
- Excited to drive contracts to closure and are comfortable partnering with clients in sales where you will prioritize multiple deals simultaneously while supporting tight deadlines.
- Able to work out of our Singapore or Sydney office and be the first local point of contact for the Legal Department.
