The Supervisor Clinical Lab General Evening is responsible for the overall direction and monitoring of laboratory activities and staff. This position is responsible for team members that perform analyses and draft reports on specimens to support patient assessment diagnosis and treatment. This position is responsible for maintaining efficient laboratory operations ensuring patient safety and providing high-quality laboratory services. This role is responsible for the evening shift.
Responsibilities
Supervises lab specimens to ensure correct tests are performed and results are returned within acceptable turnaround times to enhance the reliability and timeliness of diagnostic information. Educates and enforces policies related to specimen collection handling testing and investigation to ensuring consistent adherence by staff and reliable rest results. Provides guidance and assistance to staff on procedures troubleshooting and problem-solving fostering a skilled and competent laboratory team to ensure efficient and high-quality testing services. Oversees technical procedures that produce accurate test results within acceptable turnaround times and successfully trains staff to maintain proficiency in these skills ensuring reliable and efficient laboratory operations. Oversees the lab safety program promoting a culture of safety and loss prevention ensuring a safe environment for staff and patients to minimize the risk of accidents. Manages staffing plans and scheduling to support smooth laboratory operations and timely patient care. Ensures accurate completion of employee time sheets offers coaching corrective actions and conducts performance appraisals for staff development to align performance with standards and foster a high-performing workforce. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelors degree in medical technology clinical laboratory science or chemical physical or biological science.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Four years of laboratory experience in a high complexity laboratory in designated specialty or subspecialty. Preferred: Two to four years supervisory or leadership experience
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification from one of the following upon hire: ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) or AMT (American Medical Technologists)
