About the Position: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Hardwood Saw Filer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining repairing sharpening and aligning all saws and cutting tools used in mill operations to ensure optimal cutting performance and production efficiency. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the quality precision and safety of our Sawmill operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect maintain and sharpen circular saws band saws gang saws and other cutting tools.
• Level and tension saws to ensure precision cutting and prevent saw damage.
• Repair or replace damaged saws and blades using welding and grinding techniques.
• Document maintenance sharpening schedules and performance logs.
• Work closely with mill operators and supervisors to troubleshoot and resolve sawing issues.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on filing room equipment and tools.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized filing room.
• Must be willing to learn multiple positions in the Sawmill to help out when needed.
• Any other duties assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade certification preferred.
• 2 years of experience as a saw filer in a Sawmill or wood products facility preferred but willing to train the right person.

Skills/Personal Qualifications:

• Proficiency with filing equipment and knowledge of saw types and uses.
• Ability to read technical manuals and blueprints.
• Skilled in welding grinding and machine operation related to saw maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.

Physical Requirements:

• Physical ability to stand lift up to 50 lbs. bend and perform repetitive tasks.
• Stamina to work in environments with varying temperatures noise and dust.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Exposure to noise dust and moving mechanical parts.
• Must wear appropriate PPE and follow safety guidelines at all times.
• May be required to work shifts overtime weekends or holidays depending on production needs.
