Bachelors degree in accounting or a related field
Familiarity with retirement programs such as 403(b) plans or IPERS
Experience working with external vendors
Experience reconciling accounts
Familiarity with payroll deductions
Experience processing accounts payable/receivable transactions

Job Description:

Summary

TheDivision of Operations and Financeis seeking a detail-oriented and motivated professional for the role ofAccountant IIwithin theFringe Benefits Accounting and Compliance (FBAC)team. This position plays a key role in managing and ensuring compliance across the universitys diverse fringe benefit programs and will be the primary lead for retirement benefits. The FBAC team oversees critical functions such as initiating premium payments to third-party administrators and insurance carriers and ensuring compliance with IRS regulations university policies and state and federal laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile and process monthly and weekly vendor payments
  • Assist in reconciling various benefit accounts
  • Communicate with employees and students regarding fringe benefits via phone email and in person
  • Reconcile individual benefit deductions
  • Support the creation and maintenance of monthly quarterly and annual reports
  • Perform data entry and calculate payroll adjustments for benefit premiums
  • Prepare accounting entries for registers journals and logs


Level Guidelines
Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
Applies broad working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex difficult and varied problems and issues
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests
May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff
May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
Provides guidance to students




Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
