Position Overview:
Cincinnati Museum Centers (CMC) Learning Team reflects three audiences of focus: Community Engagement & Programs School & Teacher Partnerships and Museum Experience and Program Development. This position falls within the School & Teacher Partnerships team. School & Teacher Partnerships staff work with educators schools and other audiences to share informal education experiences that supplement curriculum and enrich learning. Through its Programs-on-Wheels outreach CMC reaches 40000-45000 offsite participants each year. Through field trips and Programs-at-Union Terminal CMC reaches 50000-55000 participants onsite.
Specialists for School & Teacher Partnerships present programs designed for students and groups in the community and at CMC.
The Specialist of School and Teacher Partnerships ensures that Learning programs/events: (1) Are on mission; (2) Make effective use of resources; (3) Are accessible and inclusive; and (4) Engage repeat participants and attract new ones.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school degree or equivalent work experience.
- 2 years of experience presenting educational programs preferred.
- Training or experience in History Science Art Early Childhood Development theatre customer service or other related field.

Additional Requirements:
- Valid drivers license*
- Must pass a BMV background check for initial hire and annually thereafter
- Use of personal vehicle to transport self and supplies to programs occasionally required.
- Comfortable driving a variety of passenger vehicles in a variety of conditions within the Cincinnati region regularly up to one hour and occasionally regionally beyond one hour.*
- Some early morning weekend and/or evening hours required.*
- Tuesday and Wednesday workdays required; other 1-2 work days are flexible*
- Length of day varies seasonally based on number of programs scheduled.*
- Majority of time is spent in classroom-type settings which include schools libraries summer camps and a variety of other locations indoors and outdoors. Occasional time is spent in a typical office/exhibit environment.
- Incumbent will be exposed to intermittent sitting and standing keyboard usage bending stooping lifting and typing.*
- Some days will require fast-paced movement in schools and Union Terminal (including multiple flights of steps) and will be mentally and physically demanding.*
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods while presenting programs or assisting visitors.*
- Must be able to move tables chairs boxes and other equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. *
Additional Working Conditions:
- This position may take place in both indoors and outdoors. This position requires long periods of standing sitting and walking. May be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather including rain and snow.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee must regularly sit stand walk talk and hear; to use arms hands and fingers to handle or reach. The employees often must stand and walk. The employee must occasionally climb balance stoop kneel crouch crawl and climb stairs throughout the day. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
