Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Payroll Clerk is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely entry of payroll-related data particularly related to crop growing and harvesting activities. This role plays a critical part in supporting the payroll process by maintaining precise records verifying time and piece rate data and providing essential administrative support to the department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately enter employee timekeeping piece rate and production data into the payroll and ERP systems.
  • Review and validate harvest records for accuracy including crew counts piece prices and production totals.
  • Ensure all timekeeping hours are correct including start/end times rest and meal breaks and applicable meal premiums.
  • Cross-check data between systems Excel tracking sheets ERP system and payroll system to ensure alignment and consistency.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records related to wage and hour requirements ensuring compliance with company policies and labor regulations.
  • Communicate with field supervisors or managers to resolve any discrepancies in timekeeping or production data.
  • Assist in monitoring piece rate entries to ensure correct pricing is applied per crop field and crew.
  • Support payroll processing by providing timely accurate data to the payroll specialist.
  • Perform routine audits of time and piecework entries to identify and correct errors proactively.
  • Train supervisors and employees on proper payroll/ERP system usage related to timekeeping and production data.
  • Assist with HR project implementation system testing and process improvements as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll and employee information at all times
  • Provide general support to the Human Resources team including assisting with onboarding paperwork employee file maintenance scheduling orientations benefits data entry responding to employee inquiries and helping coordinate HR-related projects or compliance tracking.
  • Train employees on organizations timekeeping systems.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of payroll piece rate wage and hour and accounting practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for compensation benefits and HRIS systems.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services this includes customer needs assessment meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of employee satisfaction.
  • Using mathematics to solve problems.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of employees.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself other individuals or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Business Administration Human Resources or related field or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • 1-4 years of experience in payroll processing or bookkeeping
  • Up to date knowledge and experience with state and federal wage and hour compliance
  • Being honest and ethical.
  • Reliable responsible dependable and fulfilling obligations.
  • Attention to detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
  • Accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high-stress situations.
  • Analyzing information and using logic to address work-related issues and problems.
  • A willingness to lead take charge and offer opinions and direction.
  • Preferring to work with others rather than alone.
