How to Apply: Overview
Consistent with the strategic priorities of the AceroSchools the Payroll Manager will report directly to the Chief FinancialOfficer and manage all payroll functions for the organization. Undersupervision of the Chief Financial Officer the Payroll Manager will beresponsible for managing the bi-monthly payroll process for all employees ofAcero and other related transactions.
The Payroll Manager will work among the accounting team andthe human capital team and consistently cross train in order to create a deepaccounting office and allow for constant improvement and refinement ofservices.
-Utilize and manage Paycor an online payroll service to processand report payroll for 700 employees across 15 campuses and the centraloffice.
-Manage time and attendance providing oversight training andsupport to all campuses.
-Collaborate with the Human Capital Department to administer theemployee pension and 401k ensuring proper submissions tracking and compliancewith the Chicago Teachers Pension Fund and legal requirements.
-Update and verify all employee changes and adjustments includingprocessing new hires transfers promotions terminations etc. (related topayroll processing).
-Align payroll system with fund-based accounting system for propercoding and allocation of all 700 employees.
-Track and process bonus and stipend disbursements throughout theyear.
-Liaise with external brokers vendors and auditors to resolvepayroll issues.
-Identify recommend and implement process improvements tostreamline payroll processes and procedures and to integrate best practices.
-Assist with system upgrades within Paycor.
-Build and execute detailed payroll reports in response to internaland external data requests.
-Process employment verifications and wage garnishments.
-Lead the Finance and Accounting teams to research and reconcilepayroll transactions.
-Serve as the primary contact for payroll inquiries.
- Education: Bachelors degree in accounting or related business degree
- At leasttwo - five years of significant work experience with organizations as a PayrollManager / Accountant (or equivalent) with non-profit or education organizations(strongly preferred)
- Ability tobuild and create data analyze statistics identify trends and make balancedobjective recommendations taking into consideration varying scenarios andoutcomes
- Knowledgeableabout payroll-related state and federal labor employment and insurance law;charter and education law a plus
- StrongExcel and database skills
- Stronganalytical problem-solving skills and strong organizational skills
- Extremeflexibility with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit toaccommodate high level of responsibility and multiple priorities
-Ability to work effectively in a fluid environment and with a widerange of colleagues
-Musthold permanent residency in the United States (required)
Physical Demands
The nature of the workrequires an ability to operate standard business office equipment and theability to communicate and exchange information collect compile and preparework documents set-up and maintain work files. Physical demands include theability to stand bend reach high and low stoop and walk around theclassroom 60% of the addition candidates must be able to lift and/orpush and pull 15 to 20lbs. for short periods of time and walk up and downstairs several times a day.
Working Conditions
Majority of work is performedin a general office environment. Position requires availability for extendedhours plus non-traditional hours required to perform job duties. Also requiresparticipation and attendance at organization-sponsored events and meetings.
