Qualifications

The fellow will specifically work on novel time domain (fluorescence lifetime-based) optical imaging technologies for clinical and preclinical applications in cancer neuropathology and cardiac disease. Depending on the candidates experience proficiency and career goals the research can focus on a combination of the following areas: development maintenance and operation of optical imaging systems and image reconstruction algorithms developing and designing animal and human protocols performing preclinical imaging studies with simple animal procedures (surgery anesthesia etc.) performing in vitro cell culture and ex vivo histology and microscopy studies and conducting clinical studies for image guided surgery and diagnostics.

Requirements: The candidate will ideally have a PhD in Biomedical Engineering or in the pure sciences (chemistry/physics/biology/biochemistry).

Previous experience in one or more of the following areas would be a strong plus: experimental optics imaging computational physics programming experience in the C/C/Matlab animal models of disease clinical and/or animal protocols translational studies in humans regulatory experience.

The candidate should have a strong interest in applying their skills for advancing biomedical science and be capable of independent thinking.

A research fellow position is available in the translational optical molecular imaging Laboratory at the Toth Center Department of Otolaryngology-HN surgery at Mass Eye and Ear with an affiliated appointment at Harvard Medical School. This is an exciting opportunity to work in clinical and preclinical fluorescence molecular imaging which combines the use of cutting edge imaging technology recent advances in our understanding of the molecular underpinnings of disease and advances in development of molecular probes to target disease pathology in vivo.
