Primary Purpose
Under general direction conducts applied business and social science research and analysis to support the Director and Associate Director of the Center for Business and Policy Research. Continuation of position is based upon availability of funding.
Essential Functions
Conducts varied economic analysis in support of Centers grant and contract funded projects in the areas of transportation housing workforce development forecasting and related areas. Collects organizes and manipulates economic and demographic data. Creates charts and graphs for technical reports and presentations. Provides evaluation and interpretation of research data. Performs research in all aspects of applied business and social science. Produces written research reports and proposals related to assigned research projects or as directed. Serves as resource for center providing information or support to clients community and administration. Supports planning and programming for external events and focus groups. Assist with updates and maintenance of Center website content. Performs other duties as assigned or requested. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Economics Public Policy Urban and Regional Planning or related field preferred. Two (2) years of full-time experience demonstrating knowledge and understanding of research techniques data analysis and report writing.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in Economics Public Policy Urban and Regional Planning or related field preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of economic research methods. Proficiency in MS Office software (advanced level of Excel necessary). Ability to work independently think analytically be a problem solver and to apply those skills in constructing models collecting data to populate the models and produce model results. Strong writing skills to produce effective reports and other documents for technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and in speaking with customers co-workers and various business contacts in a courteous and professional manner. Proficiency in statistical analysis software such as R or Stata and mapping tools such as ArcGis. Familiarity with economic impact and simulations tools such as aslmplan or REMI . Positive attitude. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice equity and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
