Job Description

Responsible for meeting customer needs by:

  • Assisting the department supervisor with leading the Value Stream following Safety Quality Delivery Inventory and Productivity (SQDIP)
  • Assisting the department supervisor with Continuous Improvement and Kaizen events to reach established TBEI goals and initiatives
  • Providing timely information to employees department supervisor and other areas as required (i.e. documentation reports)
  • Assist with employee performance appraisals and help hold employees accountable for performing and following safety guidelines and attendance expectations
  • Assist the Value Stream Supervisor with identifying training needs providing training and floating within the responsibility area where needed
  • Securing building following shifts and opening building prior to production each day
  • Setting up and operating painting equipment to paint truck bodies or parts
  • Ensure all paint areas have the correct work in front of them following FIFO principles.
  • Manage paint supplies and spare parts inventories.
  • Assist the department supervisor in setting overtime plans production plans and ensure a clean hand-off of priorities to other shifts.

Equipment Used: Spray gun overhead chain hoists forklift trucks pallet jacks grinder/sander cleaners and small hand tools tape measure computer respirator hood system power washer safety glasses safety shoes coveralls earplugs grinding shield gloves etc.

Essential Functions / Competency:

  • An understanding of lean principles and the ability to lead employees in the use of the lean tools.
  • Open to understanding and implementing new processes. Must lead by example with a positive attitude following safety rules and work procedures etc.
  • Organization and time urgency must be able to work on multiple projects with deadlines.
  • An understanding of BOMs and product flow. Product knowledge is preferred
  • A willingness to learn and understand operations involved with the area of assignment. This may include painting paint equipment paint preparation and paint preparation equipment.
  • Completing and complying with annual Hazardous Waste Management Training for waste management storage transport and record keeping
  • Must work in a safe manner following safety procedures including wearing PPE (personal protective equipment) completing maintenance requests and communicating hazards to co-workers and management. Must assist with root cause analysis and resolution of accident investigations.
  • Post high school education is strongly preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills and a positive attitude to assist managers with finding and resolving problems.

Physical Demands

  • Prompt and reliable attendance. Overtime and odd hours may be required to meet customer needs.
  • Excellent communication skills must be used to regularly communicate and/or discuss issues affecting production equipment personnel safety and their resolutions with the management team before shift changes and as necessary.
  • Ability to walk and stand on concrete for 90% of the shift. Able to lift push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Good oral and written communication skills. Public speaking will be necessary to lead others in safety training group meetings etc.
  • Computer proficiency specifically word documents and spreadsheets.

Additional Job Information:

  • Wage Expectations: $24.00 to $30.00 per hour
  • Pay: This is a non-exempt hourly position and employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis
  • Typical Schedule: Four (4) Ten (10) hour days M-F Overtime may be available on your 5th day of the week and/or Saturdays
  • Location: On Site 52182 Ember Road Lake Crystal MN 56055
  • Travel: Very minimal to none
