Job Description Summary

We are recruiting for a Flight Deck Lean Leader who will be responsible for driving operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives using GE Aerospaces proprietary FLIGHT DECK lean operating model and involves leveraging Flight Deck principles to optimise processes enhance safety improve quality ensure on-time delivery and reduce costs (SQDC). The Lean Leader reports into the Cheltenahm Site Flight Deck Leader andcollaborates with cross-functional teams to implement sustainable improvements foster a culture of problem-solving and align operational strategies with organisational goals.

Flight Deck at GE Aerospace refers to a proprietary lean operating model designed to drive continuous improvement operational excellence and alignment with the companys priorities of Safety Quality Delivery and Cost (SQDC). It incorporates elements of lean methodologies such as Kaizen Kata Hoshin Kanri and Standard Work tailored specifically to GE Aerospaces needs and goals.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the application of Flight Deck methodologies to drive improvements in Safety Quality Delivery and Cost (SQDC) with safety as the top priority.
  • Facilitate workshops Kaizen events and training sessions to build Flight Deck capabilities across teams.
  • Analyse processes to identify inefficiencies and implement solutions aligned with Flight Deck principles.
  • Collaborate with leadership to set performance targets and track progress using Flight Deck metrics and visual management tools.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by engaging employees at all levels and encouraging problem-solving behaviours.
  • Ensure sustainability of improvements through standard work documentation and regular audits.
  • Act as a change agent to challenge the status quo and inspire innovation within the Flight Deck framework.
  • Measure performance through the lens of our customers.
  • Share information so we can solve problems together.

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in a relevant subject area from an accredited institution
  • Significant understanding of lean/continuous improvement principles and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to drive decision-making.
  • Comprehensive experience in delivering presentations with the ability to influence and engage teams at all levels.
  • Significant communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience in project and change management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong technical skills
  • Experience of working in a highly regulated sector i.e. aerospace automotive pharmaceuticals defence etc

Desirable Characteristics

  • MS/MBA from accredited institution
  • Expertise in root cause analysis process mapping and implementing corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with GE Aerospaces proprietary Flight Deck operating model is an advantage though not essential
