Wesleyan Universitys Department of American Studies invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor specializing in Ethnic Studies beginning July 1 2026. Ph.D. inAmerican Studies Ethnic Studiesor related fieldin hand by the time of appointment to behired as an Assistant Professor; a successful candidatemaybe hired asanInstructor if the candidatedoes not have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment but willcomplete the American Studies Ethnic Studies or related fieldwithin one year of hire. We seek a scholar-teacher whose work expands existing departmental strengths in subject matter and method.
With a strong and diverse undergraduate student body Wesleyan is a highly selective liberal arts college that values both scholarship and teaching very highly. Candidates must be prepared to teach introductory and advanced courses in their area(s) of expertise. Teaching load is 2/2 in person on Wesleyans campus. Additional duties include advising and mentoring students carrying on a program of research and participating in faculty governance at the departmental and university level.
